Ava Luna, who's all consisting my favorite friends in a band in Brooklyn, is the most favorite band in these years of mine. YES. I don't even much mention about how they're musically nice touching to, to us. Ohh man, it's so emotionally (in a good way absolutely!) that I just want to tell much personally about AvLn to music fan in Japan sincerely. YES, I dedicate this translation and my words especially to drummer Julian, singer Carlos, and synthsizerist Nathan, I mean everyone of Ava Luna, and people who love AvLn and my friends as well.

僕個人がAva Lunaと出会ってからかれこれもう一年以上になると思います。きっかけは正に、English introの方で添付している"Clip"という楽曲のMVからでした。そもそもで、彼らは大事な友達です。ブルックリンからボストンにライヴしにくるときは必ず観に行って会って沢山話しもします。昨年末（2011年12月）にNYCの人気インディ系ヴェニュー・Bowery BallroomでのTwin Sisterと のライヴの、更に遡って昨９月のボストンはParadiseでのToro Y MoiとUnknown Mortal Orchestraのライヴのオープンと、神架ったオープナーとしての座を見せつけてくれ、４月にはヘッドライナーとして僕らのホームベニュー、オールストンのGreat Scottに来ボスしてくれて、その時に日本盤デビューがP-Vineさんからだとメンバーから聞かされました。（実際はもっと早く、２月？頃にボストンにまた来てくれる予定だったのですが、色々と内輪事情がありまして。苦笑 最終的に共通の僕らの仲間がリスケジュールしてくれました。。ああはは。）あんなに嬉しいことはなかった。惚れ込んでいる大好きなバンド、しかも友達のバンドが日本でレコードをリリースできるなんて。そんでその際には、シンセサイザーのナーザンが昔日本の四国に住んでいた事があり、くるりや日本のロック、ないしはアジアンロック、音楽が大好きだということで意気投合したりしました（笑）。（ちなみに彼はくるりは主に初期、2ndの「図鑑」や4th「World Is Mine」は俺の人生を変えた！って言ってました。笑）
特に仲のいいドラムのジュリアンは元々Ava Lunaがボーカルのカルロスのソロプロジェクトだった時代からバンドになっての初期の音源のリリース先のレーベル「クーリング・パイ (Cooling Pie)」のオーナーであり、 昨年末に残念ながら解散してしまったQuilty（クウィルティー）というバンドのドラマーでもあり、そちら経由で前々から友達で、共通の仲間も沢山いる気心知れた男です（笑）。フロントのカルロスはまさに繊細な芸術肌な人間ですが、とても優しくて僕がToro Yのライヴ時に「ヴァイナルにサインしてくれ！」ってせがんだら
あの眼鏡の奥で苦笑いしてハニカミながら小さくサインしてくれました（笑）。
Ava Lunaがバンドになってからも、実はメンバーは流動的でこのセッションやdebut full lengthとなる "Ice Level" (オリジナルは2012年2月／日本盤は6月6日ついにリリース！いえーい)のレコーディング時点では７人組と中所帯ながらとてもみんな仲がよく、家族みたいなバンドです。４月のライヴの時には6人でやってきて演奏していたのでメンバーに「あれ？あのアジア系のアンナは？」って聞いたら（恐らくSXSW tourやアルバムのリリース後のTwin SisterとのUS tour後に）「彼女は仕事が忙しくなって、脱退しちゃったんだよ。。」って言っておりましたので、現状は6人となります。
と、まあ、まったく彼らの音楽性には触れずここまで書き上げましたけれども、実際Ava Lunaに関しては日本でも「売れる洋楽」なはずです。なので、僕などが音楽性に触れずとも、リスナーの方がこのインターネットワールドを駆使して楽曲や映像に触れてみて感じ取るのが何よりと思いますが、日本国内でも各方面で話題の様ですのであえて僕は触れない事にして、むちゃむちゃ個人的なことを書き綴ろうと思いました。ら、ただの想いで日記になりました（笑）
今回のこのデイトラの翻訳と記事はアヴァ・ルナと友達、そしてお読み頂いた方ひとりひとりにデディケイト (dedicate)致します。

Sitting where I'm sitting right now, looking out the window upon the patio section of the coffeehouse property, there's a high school-aged dude trying to be as attentive as he possibly can as the attractive girl he came with talks to him. They aren't together, it's obvious, but it's just as obvious to see and read said dude's body language and tell that he's having a hard time focusing. He's more than into her and he's got his hopes up that his congeniality, his listening skills, his gentlemanly ways, his easy smile and the iced coffee that he bought her are going to pay off. He's hoping that something's going to nudge this chemistry a bit and all of those urgings and excited uprisings popping off inside his head are going to get addressed sometime. He could use something smooth, something soulful and clever to push this to the next level, to get her willing to throw those hands, with the blood-orange fingernails around his neck or back and pull his shaking body closer to hers for a kiss, or something.
He could use some sexy Ava Luna music to mentor him, to get those hands over to his side, in the dark or in the light. The seductive intertwining vocals of Carlos Hernandez, Felicia Douglass and Becca Kauffman are impossible to ignore or downplay. They tread more on the peculiarities and more slinky lines of love and romance - the hot romps or the fantasized plays on the hot romps, not to mention the fallouts of them - but they could turn any situation into a possible fever run. They sing, "But I don't want to sleep or I might escape her gaze/And if I could focus/Now, if I could focus/I would know the stronger of us," and that's where this kid in front of me wants to be. He wants to be anywhere else other than this coffeehouse, with this pretty girl, telling him about what she did at her summer job today. He'll be more interested in that stuff later, but first thing's first.
