METZ debut session: "Not Until Everyone's Messed Up"
Words by Sean Moeller, Illustration by Johnnie Cluney, Recording engineered by Mike Gentry. Japanese Translation by MELTRICK
What does a man do when he's got no clean clothing - the laundry piling up in the corner of the bedroom - and all he wants to do is chainsaw a running motorcycle in half? It's not a rhetorical question. There is an answer that can be arrived at without a whole helluva lot of consideration. That man - if he just can't find anything clean to wear or a chainsaw or a running motorcycle - probably just goes out and gets fucking hammered drunk and listens to Metz' self-titled new record.
It will quench that feeling as much as anything can. That man might even want to douse himself in gasoline, just for a little excitement, just in case someone decided to strike a match and let some craziness ensue. There's really no telling what all it might take for a man who has such inclinations to feel as if they've got what they needed out of the night. It might take going down in a blaze of flames to feel like it was memorable enough to be mentioned in the holiday card form letter.
Lead singer Alex Edkins, drummer Hayden Menzies and bassist Chris Slorach make up this power trio from Toronto and they skim all the creamy debauchery off the top of the churn, guzzling it themselves, flailing and working themselves into a steamy lather while doing so. These songs pound with ripping abandon and they run around like maniacs breaking every glass and bottle they can find until everyone's messed up.
"First of All" for the ending up this post, you just should head up to the METZ show sometime as soon as possible you can make it to wherever it happens they definitely run around the breaking beer bottles and ripping the abandon with their freak-up real punk sound (I would say "punk") in the dirty venue of your neighbor.
I Know it's kinda stupidly late to present this, but I listened back to the very first debut digital EP for while for long. And rethink of this 2010-2012 latest dubstep grammy guy's debut. I indeed think it's almost latest rock music in the world now, and still think that not so bad be back to his debut.
And I also think he could somehow make one show at some sumer rock fest in Japan this year, but maybe he doesn't?

My favorite tracks from this EP is below. The reason why is because, he has put some interesting japanese girl phone call voices as a sounds effect and it's really impressive for me, as a japanase.
★Skrillex / "With Your Friends"
&
★Skrillex / "Da Da Oliphant"
Enjoy the EP!!

Actually I may have seen a news on some music webmag...that Skrillex is/was gonna participate some track in Muse's next album?! That would be good, I think.
I actually liked this 2004's third full length, because it was melodiously very..insistent. And this music video as well.

This band line up is same as when I saw him in Boston at a venue Great Scott in 2010.

Oh by the way, I've translated this song's lyric by myself someday before, and that was here from!!

(3rd EiS various artist free compilation Album - Aug2009)
Esp. my friends band RIBS from Boston on the track M-3! and one my favorite track is M-18 by Solar Powered Destroyer as well. This is the third installment compilation from EiS back in summer of 2009, when I first came to Boston and a time when I was hardly discovering music in Boston area from the internet. All 19 tracks.
☆Exploding in Sound / "CIRCULATORY SYSTEM"
(4th EiS Free Compilation album - Nov2009)
This one is also their early year compilation. My purpose for this one was a Mass based spacy Hard Core band Constants, and a girl front alternative rock band Dirty Dishes.
These songs are finally on the proper record called "Plastic Moon," actually at that time they pledged for making the record itself and signed new label to press out. This "Let's Go" & "Time" is that time's free stuff.

Okay there. In English, it might be first time I am writing about one of my original hometown friends band called 'midnight parade' (midnightparade.jp) but I'm so glad finally that I got a chance to do that for them. Post rock, hard core, math rock etc etc influenced very hawk sounds (in my opinion), they've tried to make their own sounds effecting in a local town Niigata in Japan, where locates in opposite to west north from Tokyo. An epic band in this area.
One of guitar players such nice guy, takahashi-san from midnight parade messaged me about someone from oversea sent them an article of midnight parade in English, then offering me to translate it in Japanese correctly. Okay, I can do that. I'd love to do that very emotionally cause they're one of my best local bands anew in Japan. They spent so much busy times and massive times in 2011, and the end of the year two guys left the band. Several proper constant releases (you can even see and take a listen the discography on their website, bandcamp and the article about mp in English.) and some big own organizing shows in town, and even keep making new own music as well as keeping their personal lives. And early this year, they've reorganized more like reformed the band themselves with new players, such as a guitar player and a drummer. Especially the new drummer has also his own band called Sayonara Balk from the other area in Niigata
That website, introducing underground Japanese music and the scenes very deeply and very particularly, is so hitting the musical truth, I think. I love it, thank you for writing midnight parade up on your website, Ryan! We really appreciate, and that's true if there was their distro in the us indeed. Especially because I haven't even gotten a copy of their 2nd demo ep "red light discor" while I'm in Boston... impossible. Paper craft rectangle envelop package cd cover jacket with the art should have been awesome too, they would make it by diy-ly for the first two released demos. (Okay, Takahashi-san has been working on the band personal distro system called "1020distro." We can possibly make the international distro over enough by very our own way soon together (within my MELTRICK).)

"The Absent Trail of an Echo and My Future Plagued by Surrender"
[Bandcamp] Midnight Parade - Various (2006-2011)
-- written by @Ryan [Thu/June/21st/2012]
Midnight Parade has definitely been making the rounds. They've released stuff on Say Hello to Never Records, Further Platonix, even showing up on the Love the Fate compilation. So, they've definitely been busy and all, but I have none of these and had never heard them before. So, on top of my normal pleasure at finding a Japanese band with uploaded songs on bandcamp, I finally get to hear a band that has been on all those distro pages for so long.
The songs available on bandcamp are scattered, only one is off a release I could find available. Still, there's 3 studio tracks and 2 live tracks, and you can get a good sense of their sound. They have a bit of a Toe influence with the instrumentation, a little 3cm tour in some of the songs, and something else that I can't think of. Each song is plenty long and goes through lots of different moods before their epic endings. My favorite song of the three is 8cm先の憂鬱, which has a more aggressive tone than the others, and definitely reminds me of 3cm tour, or maybe Birth.
Check them out, and get their releases if you can. Now I have to add them to my list of stuff to buy in those intermittent orders to Japanese distros. Man, wouldn't it be great if there was a distro in the US that was trying to bring over Japanese stuff...
I have to say though, this video below, which was one made for the release of the unripe split, is so frickin' boring. These guys are just standing around, only playing their instruments. No emotion guys? Oh well, the music's good, so that's fine, I guess.

Say Hello To Never Records、Further Platonix、それにLove the Hate recordsのコンピレーションにまで顔を出しているのだから。
